Direct Primary Care
Healthcare without the middleman.
Direct Primary Care (DPC) is a simple idea: you pay your practice a flat monthly membership, and in return you get unhurried, direct access to your own physician — no insurance billing, no copays, no surprises.
The model, plainly
What is Direct Primary Care?
DPC operates entirely outside the insurance system. Your monthly membership covers almost everything done in the clinic — unlimited visits, telehealth, basic procedures, and care coordination.
Because there's no insurance overhead — no coding, no claims to fight — the cost of running the practice drops dramatically. That's what keeps membership accessible to a much broader range of people. The practice works directly for you, the patient, rather than for an insurance payer.
DPC isn't insurance, and it isn't meant to replace it. Most members pair their membership with a high-deductible health plan or a health sharing ministry to cover the bigger, rarer things — specialists, emergencies, hospital stays, and major procedures. Fieldstone handles your everyday and preventive care; your plan covers the catastrophic.
A common mix-up
DPC vs. concierge medicine
They sound alike, but they're built differently — and the difference comes down to insurance and price.
Direct Primary Care
Fieldstone's model
- One flat, affordable monthly fee
- The practice doesn't bill insurance at all
- Membership covers nearly all in-clinic care
- Low overhead keeps it within reach for most people
- Your doctor works for you, not a payer
Concierge medicine
A different approach
- A high annual retainer, often several thousand dollars
- The practice still bills your insurance on top of the fee
- Premium access layered onto the traditional model
- Higher cost typically limits it to a narrower group
- Two payers in the room, not one relationship
Why patients choose it
The benefits of DPC
Unhurried visits
Appointments measured in half-hours, with time to get to the bottom of things.
Fast, direct access
Same- or next-day visits, and a direct line to reach your doctor by phone, text, or video.
A doctor who knows you
A deliberately small panel means real continuity — not a different stranger every visit.
Transparent, predictable cost
One flat monthly fee. No copays, no coding games, no surprise bills in the mail.
Wholesale labs & medications
Common labs and many medications at or near cost, priced up front.
House calls
Care that comes to you, at home, when that's easier or simply better.
Real prevention
Time to work upstream — on root causes and lasting health, not just today's symptom.
Fewer hassles, often less cost
No insurance paperwork between you and care — and real savings, especially with a high-deductible plan.
Who it's a good fit for
- People who want a real, ongoing relationship with one doctor
- Families who value same-day access and house calls
- Anyone with a high-deductible plan or health-share membership
- Self-employed people and small businesses
- Patients with complex or chronic conditions who need more time
- Uninsured patients seeking affordable, transparent primary care

Fieldstone handles your day-to-day care. A high-deductible plan or health sharing membership covers the rarer, larger events:

Common questions
Direct Primary Care, explained
Is this insurance?
No. DPC is a membership for primary care, not an insurance plan. We recommend keeping coverage for major medical needs — hospital stays, emergencies, surgeries, and specialist care — while Fieldstone handles your everyday and preventive care.
What's not included in my membership?
Membership covers your primary care. Costs that fall outside it include outside lab work, imaging (X-ray, MRI, CT), specialist visits and procedures, emergency and hospital care, and some vaccines or supplies. We'll always help you find transparent, affordable options and coordinate referrals when you need them.
Can I use my HSA or FSA?
Many members do. Eligibility depends on your specific plan, so please confirm with your HSA/FSA administrator or tax advisor.
Do you work with Medicare?
No. Fieldstone does not participate in Medicare, and at this time we're unable to take on patients enrolled in Medicare. If you're unsure how this applies to you, reach out and we'll talk it through.
Is there a contract?
No long-term commitment. Membership is month-to-month, and you can cancel any time.
